Blood Promise by Richelle Mead: Book Review!

Hello, everyone! I'm back with another fun book review! Continuing on with the Vampire Academy series, we have Blood Promise by Richelle Mead. This is the fourth book of the Vampire Academy series, but enough about that. Let's get on with the review!

First off, DO NOT READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE FIRST THREE BOOKS OF THIS SERIES! That is in all caps because I would hate to spoil this series for anyone, but let's get down to nitty gritty of this book. This book is about Rose's journey to find Dimitri who is now a Strigoi. Her plan is to hunt him down and kill him, but will she be able to kill the one she loves? While Rose is on the other side of the world looking for Dimitri, Lissa is dealing with Rose's departure and what that means for their friendship. She's realized that Rose had a part of her life that she couldn't share with Lissa. Then new girl Avery moves to St. Vladimir's, and she has her sights set on Lissa. Everything comes to a climax when truths are revealed.

I like how this story takes an idea from the very first book and puts it into play. From the very beginning, Rose and Dimitri both said that if they every turned Strigoi, they would want someone to kill them. Now that is the major plot of this novel. Rose is out to kill Dimitri. How well she does that is another thing entirely.

I also love how we learn more about Dimitri in this novel. We see his home country, Russia, and we see his family who are devastated from losing him to the Strigois. It also shows Rose what actually happens in the blood whore communities that she's only heard about. There's a difference between the blood whores that she sees at the club and Dimitri's family. She even said how much she wanted a family like Dimitri's.

Now it's time to be a little critical. Since this is the first time that Lissa and Rose are away for an extended period of time, there is a lot of jumping back and forth between characters, and of course, anything that Lissa does is seen through Rose's eyes, which makes it a bit more complicated. There were some points that felt a little forced.

With all of that in mind, I give this book four and a half bottles of real Russian vodka out of five. While I did feel like I was jumping around a bit between Lissa and Rose, I thought that the relationship between Rose and Dimitri was absolutely stellar and really interesting to read.
