Allegiant "Tear Down the Wall" Trailer - Reaction

Hello, everyone! I'm back, and I'm here to react to the new Allegiant trailer that dropped this past Friday. Just in case you haven't read one of my reactions, I'm going to put the video for the trailer down below, and I'll leave comments as the trailer plays. This is the first time I've seen the trailer, and I'm not sure what to expect. But enough about that. Let's get onto the reaction!

Okay, so we've got a voice-over and a group of misfits that probably hate each other. My guess is that we may hear this voice-over again.

Alright, we're into some really weird territory. We've got Earth looking like Mars again.

Four and Tris are in some weird red bubbles. Why is everything red?

It looks really really advance - technology-wise.

Except the fire, the one thing that is naturally red, is blue here.

Tris burning her clothes mirroring the first movie, perhaps?

They really like showing these people naked. Now, I just feel pandered to.

Well Four, this isn't the movie I thought it was going to be. So we all can't get what we want, can we?

Dramatic face turns!

Well, that was different.

So my overall thoughts on the trailer are a little scattered. I still don't really like the landscape outside of the wall, and I feel like the music and action didn't match. The technology looks really strange and weird, and I'm not really excited about the movie after seeing the trailer, if I'm being honest. It just seems to strayed so far away from what I think it should look, sound, and feel like.

Another problem is that it looks really fake. There are some green screen effects that look really great and believable, but this doesn't. I just wished it looked better.

Winter by Marissa Meyer - Book Review!

Hello, everyone! I'm back, and I'm here to review the conclusion to the Lunar Chronicles series, Winter by Marissa Meyer. This novel continues with Cinder's plot to start a rebellion on Luna. She's going to start an uprising against Levana by revealing to the Lunar citizens that she is the rightful queen and leading an army to Levana's front door. Hopefully Cinder and the rest of her companions won't die in the process. But enough about that, let's get onto the review!

In one of my classes I took in college, my teacher would begin a discussion on the book we were reading by asking, "Did this book leave you feeling satisfied." When it comes to Winter, I would say, "Yes, yes it did!" I was so happy with how everything turned out, all of the twists and turns, and ultimately the way the book left me feeling. Granted, if you loved the first three books, you're going to love this one. No worries about that.

I love the diversity in the cast of characters.  They are so different in their appearance, their goals, and their backgrounds, and it makes for a well-rounded group of characters. I looked forward to seeing each different person because each of them brought something special and different to the reading experience. And they're not all perfect either. They each have flaws the make them human, but they are all still inherently good.

One aspect of the story that I felt was a little hurried was the Snow White story line. I thought that the other stories in the series played special attention to the titled character, and because of that their fairy tale stories were more prominent in their particular novel. In this book, it felt like I didn't get to see enough of Winter, and that may be because Winter, the novel, is larger than the other novels in the series. So by comparison, Winter, the character, may have the same amount of "screen time" as the other characters but the extra material made it feel like less.

I really enjoyed the ending of the book. While it wasn't a traditional epilogue, it answered enough of my questions to keep me satisfied, but it also allowed the reader to imagine all of the little details that come after "happily ever after." It set up all of the characters for a new adventure without going too far into the future. Now I can create my own little adventures for them as they continue on their journeys.

With everything said and done, I'm giving this book five sour apples out of five. It's a great conclusion to a great series, a definite must-read for any Young Adult genre fan.

Shadowhunters Episode 2: "The Descent Into Hell Isn't Easy" - Review!

Hello, everyone! I'm back, and I'm here to review the second episode of the Shadowhunters television series, "The Descent Into Hell Isn't Easy." This episode picks up where the last episode left off with Clary's mother being kidnapped and her finding out about the demon word. Now, Clary and the gang have to gather more information in order to figure out what happened to Clary's mother and how to stop Valentine. But let's get onto the review!

So we're getting some more backstory in this episode with the focus on the Circle and it's former members. I'm just hoping that they'll get through this part quick enough so that we can get to some of the more exciting parts.

I cannot get over how perfect Simon is. His interactions with Jace and Izzy are some of my favorites out of the whole show so far. He's acting more of the fish out of water than Clary is, which is saying something considering most of the action is revolving around her and her mother.

I appreciate the reoccurring minor characters, even though they don't seem to last very long. I think that they're tying into the overall story well, especially since the story is getting thirteen hours of content instead of two. Dot, for example, plays a bigger role in the show than she did in the books, and she makes a bigger impact because of that.

Now, we do get a "theme song" if you want to call it that. It's really one lyric of a song with a shot of the logo we've seen in the several of the commercials. I would have preferred something more like the theme to Sleepy Hollow. While that show has a lot of flaws (don't even get me started on season two), the opening theme is pretty fantastic. I just wish they pushed the envelope for Shadowhunters.

I'm liking all of the deception and missteps that are happening in the show. People who haven't read the books question who to trust and who not to trust, and those who are fans of the books can look forward to some new twists and turns the writers have created.

I'm still loving Izzy! She's still like the Izzy from the books, without someone the anger she had about *ahem* certain situations. She also still can't cook, which is a lovely tidbit to throw in for the fans of the book, but has throws in her Latina flare every now and again. She calls Simon "hombre" at one point, and I had to squeal. She's just so sassy, and I love her!

There seem to be a lot of unnecessary hand motions when people are talking. By people I mean Jace and Alec. It just looks really odd and not natural. I'm hoping that they'll get out of that further along, but I'll guess we'll see.

That. One. Dumbledore. Quote.

We also learn a lot about Jace's backstory without a lot of buildup, which was a little let down. But I guess they needed it for the dramatic reveal at the end of the episode.

I'm wondering if Simon will be featured less in the next episode because of the kidnapping or if we're going to see more of the vampire lair. Either way, we'll find out next week!

January To Be Read - List!

Hello, everyone! I'm back with a late post! It's late in two ways. One, I usually do my TBR lists earlier in the month. Two, this post was meant to got out on Monday, but I've been so busy over the weekend that it didn't happen. But I'm here and I'm going to tell you want I'm going to try to read for this month! Considering it is so late in the month, this list is going to be kind of short. But any amount of books is always appreciated! So let's get onto the list!

The first book is Winter by Marissa Meyer. I'm currently in the middle of this book, and I'm hoping to finish it up before the month ends. I know its going to be bittersweet because as much as I want to know the ending, I'm going to be incredibly sad when it's time to say goodbye to some of my favorite characters.

The second book is Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. There has been so many good things said by several BookTubers whose opinions I trust. I've been wanting to read it since I heard the positive review from Kat O'Keeffe, and I'm hoping that I'll get to read it sometime this month.

My third book is the book of the month for the Booksplosion book club. It's called Passenger by Alexandra Bracken. The BookTubers who've read it so far have loved it, and I can't wait to fall in love with it too.

The last book I want to read for the month is My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinem. I got interested in this book thanks to Emma Watson and her new feminist book club on Good Reads called Our Shared Shelf. I figured if Emma Watson is starting a book club, I definitely want to be a part of it.

Well, that's it for this TBR list! Again, I'm thinking I'm not going to finish the list this month, but I'm hoping for the best! What's Happening - Update

Hello, everyone! This is going to be a quick update because I've been called into work all weekend, which is great for my wallet but not for my TBR list. I'm hoping to post more fun stuff in the coming week. I also wanted to let y'all know that all of my Disney posts will be set to private in one week! So read them while you can! On a current note, I also got my hair cut today in hopes that people will stop thinking that I'm twelve years old. But will see!

That's all for this post! I'll be back next week with some more cool material! Subscribe to the blog by adding your email address to the Subscribe Box down below or off to the right. Shadowhunters Episode 1 - The Mortal Cup: Review!

Hello, everyone! I'm back, and I'm here to review the first episode of the new Shadowhunters series based on the beloved Mortal Instruments book series by Cassandra Clare. I'm going to provide my overall thoughts on the episode, what I did and didn't like, and what I expect from the rest of the series. With that in mind, this is definitely not going to be spoiler-free. There will be an incredible amount of spoilers. So if you don't want to know what's happening, don't read! Now, let's get onto the review!

Overall, I liked the episode. There were a few things here and there that "irked" me, but I felt like it was a good beginning to a promising series. We've got some good character introduction, and I think that those who haven't read the books, can still get the full picture. I even like the changes that were made, for the most part. But let's take a step by step look at the show.

First, I have to say that I love the music choices. The one where the shadowhunters are hunting the demon to pandemonium is fantastic!

I will say that I was a little bummed that we didn't get a theme song. Sometimes the pilot episode won't contain the theme song, so I'm hoping to see one in the second episode. Fingers crossed!

I really don't like all of this jumping back and forth. I don't think it adds anything to the story. It just makes it more difficult to follow.

Simon is hilarious! He's so perfect that it blows my mind! He's got a twitter!

I also appreciate the little biscotti tidbit. Great foreshadowing *wink wink.*

I like that Luke is a police officer. It adds a bit of drama, and it has him closer to the action.

Not sure why Jocelyn would give Clary the stele before she starting seeing stuff. Kind of goes against her wanting Clary out of her world.

Some of the dialogue is a bit cheesy and not natural. An example is when the captain tells Luke to marry Jocelyn. Gave me goosebumps, in a bad way.

Another problem I'm having is them telling us things that are happening as opposed to letting us figure it out. Like when Jocelyn tells Magnus to take Clary's memories. We could've figured that part out. Or how the demon says that the mundane blood is for the Circle's boss. Clearly. Or when Jocelyn buns down Clary's room and "says" "I won't let them find you." The voiceover just seemed unnecessary.

The introduction of the shadowhunter trio, I thought, was really great. You have the leader, the cautious one, and the sassy one. But it also seems that Izzy is also the researcher, which makes me so happy. There are also more shadowhunters, which can bring a lot of possibilities to the show.

"Your fake ID sucks." - Gold

I don't understand the point of Izzy's wig. She immediately takes it off when she starts distracting the demons. So why bother bringing it at all?

Some of the fighting looks really well done, but sometimes you can tell that they're not actually hitting each other. Like you can clearly tell that Izzy didn't hit one of the demons, but he goes down anyway. I could also tell that Jocelyn had a stunt double for the fight scene.

The Circle has some really nice cars on hand.

I LOVE Valentine. Not the actual character, because that would be weird, but the guy who's playing Valentine is fantastic.

I'm also happy they went that graphic with the Circle member's death. I was scared that they were going to make this show too PG and not enough 13. But that was downright gruesome.

Clary's lack of reaction seems REALLY unusual. There's a lot going on, and she just seems to be little "bleh."

Find My Friend = how to be a stalker and not a friend

I love how Simon goes straight to meth problem. It's hilarious.

The end fight scene and showing Simon the truth, seemed a bit rush. To be fair, the whole episode seemed a bit rushed, but the first episode has to set up a lot of lore with many different characters. That means a lot of information needs to be told, but sometimes storytelling loses some of its magic because of it. But I'm happy with the possibilities that the first episode has provided, and I can't wait to watch the rest!

Disney Diary Day 6 - Update!

Hello, everyone! I'm back, and I'm here to continue with our final day at Disney World, Day 6! Let's get started!

Today, we were heading to Magic Kingdom! So we started our day a little late, which is fine because our fast passes didn't start until 5:30. But we left the resort around 3:30 because we wanted to get some food that caught our eye the other day.

So our first stop was the ice cream parlor. I got a double scoop of chocolate and mint chocolate chip ice cream. It was quite delicious!

Then we decided that we had time before our first fast pass, so we when and got pretzels. They were pretty good, but I wish that they had a bit more salt. Maybe it's my American palette talking, but what can I say.

After that we went to our first fast pass which was for the Dwarf Mining Rollar Coaster. There was a sixty minute wait, and we managed to get inside in about ten minutes. I love fast passes!

After we hopped off the ride, we enjoyed the day time dance show that Disney holds in front of the castle. We stayed just long enough for Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy popped out of the parade floats.

Then it was time for dinner, and, you guessed it, we went to Casey's Corner. I got a plain hot dog this go around, and it was worth it!

Then it was time to rush to Space Mountain where we had fast passes. We had to do it quickly though because we wanted to be back before the parade and fireworks.

We got some pretty good seats for the parade, but nothing to write home about. However, enjoy all the photos that I took.

Then we went to the section where you can watch the fireworks if you have fast passes for them, which we did. We saw the light show on the castle there first, which went pretty well, except people started standing up for no reason.

Once the shows were over, we did a little more shopping. We wanted to make sure that we got presents for loved ones back home, but soon after, we went back to the resort.

We freshened up and decided to go back to Downtown Disney. I know it sounds like we went to Downtown Disney quite a bit, but it's so easy to get to from our resort! We did a little shopping as well as got some more food truck food! This time I went with a corn dog, and while the taste was delicious, I found it to be a little over-fried.

And that's how we ended our Disney World vacation. The next day we got up, packed our car, and made the long trek back home. It's going to feel weird waking up and going to work instead of a theme park, but part of me will be glad to be home. I'll see you next time! Perhaps with some tips for your next Disney trip? We'll see!
