Shadowhunters Episode 5: "Moo Shu to Go" - Review!

Image
Hello, everyone! I'm back, and I'm here to review the fifth episode of Shadowhunters, "Moo Shu to Go." While trying to scope out some clues on her mother's hidden past, Clary and Simon get kidnapped for the illusive Mortal Cup. No thanks to Alec. Meanwhile, Jace and Isabelle try to discover what happened to the Seelie scouts after Maryse Lightwood, mother to Alec and Isabelle, shows up unannounced to the Institute. Now, we are getting into spoiler territory, and if you haven't seen the episode yet, turn back now! Otherwise, let's get onto the review!  So here's the episode were the werewolves finally make an appearance. No hiding behind dumpsters and coming out bloody for no apparent reason. Just full-on werewolf action. We learn that there is a pack in Brooklyn, and, guess what, they want the Mortal Cup just like everyone else. That part doesn't really bother me considering we've now established that the Cup is basically a McGuffin fo...

Shadowhunters Episode 3: "Dead Man's Party" - Review!

Image
Hello, everyone! I'm back, and I'm here to review the third episode of Shadowhunters, "Dead Man's Party." Yes, this review is extremely late, and I'm hoping to tell y'all why in a later post, but I felt that I should review this episode before the next one tomorrow. This review is not going to be spoiler-free, and you don't want to know what's happened, don't read! With that in mind, let's get this review started! So the last episode ended with Simon's kidnapping perpetrated by a couple of vampires while Clary was discovering some of the truth about her past. "Dead Man's Party" continues with the gang coming up with a plan to get Simon back without anyone finding out. Let me just say this, none of the conversations are getting better. No matter who is talking, everything just feels forced, awkward, and not natural. There's a whole subplot with Jace and Alec having an argument, and there wasn't a minute...

Shadowhunters Episode 2: "The Descent Into Hell Isn't Easy" - Review!

Image
Hello, everyone! I'm back, and I'm here to review the second episode of the Shadowhunters television series, "The Descent Into Hell Isn't Easy." This episode picks up where the last episode left off with Clary's mother being kidnapped and her finding out about the demon word. Now, Clary and the gang have to gather more information in order to figure out what happened to Clary's mother and how to stop Valentine. But let's get onto the review! So we're getting some more backstory in this episode with the focus on the Circle and it's former members. I'm just hoping that they'll get through this part quick enough so that we can get to some of the more exciting parts.  I cannot get over how perfect Simon is. His interactions with Jace and Izzy are some of my favorites out of the whole show so far. He's acting more of the fish out of water than Clary is, which is saying something considering most of the action is revolving ar...

Shadowhunters TV NEW Promo! - Reaction!

Image
Hello, everyone! I'm back, and I'm here to react to another Shadowhunters TV Promo! Another promo dropped a few days ago, and the lovely people on YouTube (you can find the specific channel here ) managed to record the promo for our viewing pleasure. As of this moment, there is only a low-quality version available, but as soon as there's a higher quality version available, I'll be sure to post it. But enough about that. Let's get onto the reaction! Like my other reactions, I'll be typing out my thoughts and feelings as the trailer plays. You can find the video down below. Let's get to watching! Okay, the first scene may be the coffee shop, but it's still up in the air. If it is, it is a pretty big coffee shop. Also, their using the same audio as the other promo, which I guess is fine if not a bit redundant. City of Bones!!!!!! Oh, Simon. He's so cute. I'm sure he's going to kill it in this role. I like how Clary is applying to ...

Shadowhunters TV: New Videos and What We Know Now - News! (P.S. There Will Be Spoilers!)

Image
Hello, everyone! I'm back, and I'm here to catch you up on all the information we learned this past weekend when the Shadhunters TV crew arrived at NYCC (New York City Comic-Con). We've gotten a lot of new videos, including a teaser trailer which I reviewed last week (you can find it here ), and we've also received a date for when to expect the first episode for the new series. So let's get started! So the first episode will air January 12 on the then Freeform (which is now called ABC Family) at 9 pm ET following Pretty Little Liars. I'm actually surprised we're getting it this early in the year, but hey, I'm not complaining. We're also getting a little documentary-type "segment" on the E! network titled "Making of Shadowhunters" on December 6. This may be a show or just a small piece of the E! News television show, but I'm excited to see what they will show considering how close I've been following the making of Shado...

Shadowhunters TV - Teaser Trailer Reaction!

Image
Hello, everyone! I'm back, and I'm here to react to the new teaser trailer for the new tv show Shadowhunters! It just dropped at NYCC (that's New York City Comic Con, if you're not in the know), and people are freaking out (as they should)! I haven't seen it yet. So, all the comments that you see down below is my first reaction and thoughts about the video. I'm sure we won't get a lot considering its a "teaser" trailer, but it's still the first video that we've seen that had the actual characters in it. But enough about that. Let's get onto the reaction! If you haven't seen one of my reaction posts before, let me break it down for you. I am going to post all of my comments under the video as they pop into my head. That way you'll be able to follow along with my randomness. I'll admit it. The first couple of scenes (the candle part) did give me the giggles. Magnus is a bawler. Like a legit bawler. He's got his...

Fandom (Mortal Instruments, Percy Jackson, Hunger Games, Divergent, and Harry Potter) Necklace: Merchandise Review!

Image
Hello, everyone! I'm back, and I'm here to do another merchandise review. This time I'll be reviewing my Fandom Necklace that I bought from Amazon. I bought this a while ago, but I will go into more detail on that later. But enough about that, let's get onto the review! The Fandom Necklace is called such because rather than just displaying your enthusiasm for one particular book series, it contains the symbols of five book series. You have the trident at the top for the Percy Jackson series. The mockingjay to the left is from the Hunger Games series. The flame on the right is from the Divergent Series. The angelic rune on the bottom is from the Mortal Instruments series. Last but not least, the deathly hollows in the center of the necklace is that of the Harry Potter series. The necklace come in both gold and silver, and I chose the silver one for personal reasons. Aesthetically, I enjoy silver jewelry over gold, but I admit there are merits to both. The neckla...

Shadowhunters TV: Alec and Luke Have Arrived!

Image
Hello, everyone! I'm back and I'm here to report that Matthew Daddario and Isaiah Mustafa are our new Alec Lightwood and Luke Garroway! The news was announced via twitter last Friday.  It was a little surprising for me. There was a build up for Clary's announcement. The suspense lasted for several days, but for this announcement, I graduated, took a nap, woke up, and found out that we had two new actors for the television show. Now, let's take a look at our new cast members and see if they fit in their new roles. Let's take a look at Matthew Daddario.  Well, we have another handsome gentleman to join the cast. Since we have our Isabelle we can put them up against each other and see if we can accept them as siblings. To be honest, I can go for it. So he looks the part, but does he have the acting chops. After a quick look up on IMDb, I can honestly say that I haven't seen any on his work. So I looked him up on YouTube, and the first thing that pops up is hi...

Shadowhunters News: Katherine McNamara is the New Clary Fray!

Image
Hello, everyone! I'm back and I'm here to report the new casting for the Shadowhunters TV show. That's right, we have a new Clary! And I'm here to tell you all about it, and what I think about it. So it was announced yesterday that Katherine McNamara will be our new Clary Fray. Of course, after hint pics went out two days prior, the internet pretty much guessed that Katherine McNamara was going to be our new Clary Fray. Firstly, I'll say that I definitely fan casted Molly Quinn for Clary Fray. So, I was disappointed to hear from Molly Quinn's official twitter that she would not be up for the role. However, I will say that I have come to terms with the decision, and I am now going to (hopefully) judge without any bias. The first thing to judge was her look. She has a fabulous head of red hair. She's absolutely gorgeous. I can definitely see her fitting in with the rest of the cast. People keep calling her short, but being two inches shorter than her...

Shadowhunters Gets Its Simon and Isabelle: Fantastic Casting or PR Nightmare?

Image
Hello, everyone! I'm back, and I'm here to talk about the new casting for the Shadowhunters TV show. We've now got an Isabelle Lightwood and Simon Lewis. So we can now add Emeraude Toubia and Alberto Rosende to our cast. But how do they stand up to both critics and the fans? As you can imagine, once the announcement was made, twitter blew up. Everyone had a opinion. From "I love them! Perfect!" to "OMG! Are you serious? They don't look like Sizzy!" This of course led to a debate that was basically shot down by our lovely queen, Cassandra Clare. While some are very optimistic as to what Toubia and Rosende will bring to the table, others had a problem with the ethnicity of the actors. To be honest, I don't really care about an actor's ethnicity. Seriously, I would probably care more about hair color than I did about skin color. I don't know what that makes me (a hairist maybe?) but what I really care about (and really what everyone s...

City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare: Book Review! (Spoilers Marked)

Image
Hello, everyone! I'm back with another book review. This review is of the newly-ish released book City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare. While I haven't been to any fabulous release parties or have been sitting in front of a Books-a-Million at midnight, I have tried to put this book off in fear of causalities of my favorite characters. But enough about that, let's get onto the review! This is the last book of the six book Mortal Instruments series. Jace has the heavenly fire flowing through his veins, which other than being incredibly deadly, makes intimacy moments with Clary way more complicated. While Clary and the rest of the team are trying to help Jace with his fire problem, they are also attempting to find a way to stop Sebastian's plan to convert Shadowhunters and take over the world. So is everyone else, they're just doing a rather sorry job at doing so. First off, I will say that there will be spoilers in this review. I'll be putting them clos...

The Mortal Instruments City of Bones Original Motion Picture Soundtrack: Music Review

Image
Hello, everyone! I'm back, and I'm here to review The Mortal Instruments City of Bones Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. So this is how it's going to work. I'm going to listen to a song, write my opinions, and move on to the next one. At the end, I'll give my overall opinion of the soundtrack. I have heard a couple of these songs, and I am partial to a few artists so this review might be a little biased. Let's get started! The first song is "Into the Lair" by Zedd. This song has no lyrics, so I'm pretty sure Zedd is a DJ. It has an electric techno vibe going on that feels like intense club music. I'm pretty sure this is the song they used in Pandemonium, but I can't be one hundred percent sure about it. I like the song if I were going to be working out or something like that, but I don't think I'll be playing it in my chilling out time. The second song is "Almost is Never Enough" by Ariana Grande and Nathan Sykes, ...

City of Bones Merchandise Jace's Necklace: Cosplay Review!

Image
Hello, everyone! So today I'm reviewing Jace's Necklace from the Mortal Instruments City of Bones the movie that you can find at your local Hot Topic (maybe). At first glace, I really liked this necklace. It's spot on from the movie, and you can tell from the picture on the back of the card that comes with it. I liked the pendent with the angelic rune and how they also added a little design to the back. I also like how they made the strength rune a part of the chain rather than another pendant. Now comes the bad part. Before I even had a chance to wear the necklace, it broke where the strength rune meets the rest of the chain. The link that held it together literally broke into five little pieces. I'll show pictures down below. For a necklace that's originally $14.50, the last thing you want is for it to break. I was determined not to throw it away. I was able to find some materials at Wal Mart to help repair it. That cost me another seven dollars. Luckily, I was ...

The Mortal Instruments City of Bones Movie Review & My Experience (Spoiler-y!)

Image
Hello, everyone! Long time, no see! So, this past Wednesday, I went to see the Mortal Instruments City of Bones movie at my local theater, and OMG the emotions that I went through! I'm going to cover everything. From my feelings about how the theaters handled the rush of Shadowhunters to their doors to what I wore to what I felt about the movie. With all that explained, let's get started. My mania started about the Sunday before the movie came out. I proceeded to call every theater within a seventy mile radius to see if they were doing a midnight premiere. What really ticked me off about  the situation wasn't that the theaters weren't doing a midnight release (well, that part did tick me off, but not as much as this), it was the fact that they had no idea if they were doing a midnight release two days before the movie came out. The theaters that I called took forever to get a hold of, and when I did get hold of them, they had no clue as to what I was talking about. It...

Crazy Cosplay: Adventures into Sewing Part 2 - Clary's Striped Shirt

Image
Hello, everyone! So, today I've been working on one of my Clary cosplay pieces. In the City of Bones movie, Clary wears the Club Monaco Elsa Tee which I have pictured above with a screencap from the movie and the stock photo from the Club Monaco website. Sadly, I couldn't get the tee before they were all sold out, but I found a similar shirt at Old Navy. The big differences are that the Old Navy shirt has tighter stripes and longer sleeves. I couldn't do anything about the stripes, but I decided to cut off the sleeves and hem it to make shorter sleeves. This is how I did it and how the shirt turned out. Enjoy! This is how the shirt looks before. It had 3/4 sleeves before I cut them off. This is how tight the stripes are. Note that they are a little skinnier than the Club Monaco shirt, but I think they will work fine with my cosplay. This is me pulling on the sleeve to show the difference between the stripes on the sleeves and the stripes on the body...

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare: Book Review

Image
So, after reading the first third of this book, I wasn't really surprised. Based on the ending from City of Fallen Angels , I had already guessed what the next part of the book was going to be about. After that though, there were so many twists and turns that I got whiplash. Now, I don't want to give out any spoilers, but I would just like to ask why do bad things happen to the characters I love and invest in? I can't say anymore without giving anything away, but I can say that Clare does make things interesting. She hasn't been shy about writing on topics that can make even the most experienced readers turn away. In her Mortal Instruments series, she touches on topics like racism, homosexuality, and teenage sexual relations that sometimes "adults" wouldn't dream of talking to their children about. While many adults and even some authors breeze over these topics like they don't exist, Clare addresses them all in a series that is meant for Young Adult...

City of Bones Merchandise: Clary's Brooklyn Industries T-Shirt Review

Image
Hello, everyone! So, it is a little belated, but I'm finally doing my review on Clary's Brooklyn Industries t-shirt. So let's get started. First things first. This shirt is incredibly soft! It's not made out of cotton like most t-shirts are. It's made out of rayon and polyester, which gives it more of a silky feel. Seriously, I just want to rub my face against it all the time. Next is the design of the shirt. I really like the sleeves which is an odd thing to say. I have ridiculously skinny arms so sleeves usually look ginormous on me. These sleeves do not. The design of the shirt is also really cool. It was inspired by instagram photos of Brooklyn which gives it a modern edge. I'm really excited to add this to my cosplay collection; however, it is a little pricey. It comes in at a whopping $40, which is a lot when you are used to getting them for $12.50 at Forever21. No need to panic though. I've found a discount for your the may or may not work. Accordin...

City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare: Book Review

Image
So, I've went through City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare a couple of days ago, and I let it sit with me so I can fully understand all of the emotions this book has made me feel. This is an amazing book. It stays along the same lines as the first three books. It has action and adventure, relationships gone awry, and a big secret that is revealed at the end. I love all those qualities, which is why I love this series; however, Clare does add a bit more sexy time in this book than the first three. To be fair, Clary and Jace spent the first three books knowing that they couldn't love each other, and now the things that were holding them back aren't anymore. That can open up a whole slew of possibilities, and I feel we just get a taste of what that could be in this book. Now, I've said it a thousand times and I'll say it again, everyone needs to read this series. While I still believe that City of Glass is my true love, I will always appreciate this book...inclu...

City of Bones Hot Topic Merchandise: Heat Revealing Runes Mug

Image
Hello, everyone! So today I received this mug that I ordered about a month ago from Hot Topic's official website. I was really curious as to how well this mug would work. By that, I mean how vibrant the runes would show up, how much hot water it would take to change the runes, and if it was a decent mug in general. Well let's talk facts. When I first opened my package, I noticed that the mug is quite small. It's a bit smaller than a Coke can and the circumferance is a bit bigger than a Coke can. Quite frankly, when you spend $14.50 for a mug, you expect a little more. Also, I immediately noticed that whatever they used to put the lettering for "the Mortal Instruments City of Bones," they left a thin clear film over it. Maybe they wanted the lettering to stay on longer, but it just cheapens this otherwise cool-looking mug. Now, let's get to the fun stuff. I immediately wanted to test the runes. I turned on super hot water from the faucet and placed it in th...
